Things to prepare before you meet an Architect/Interior Designer

    22 March 2018 by Admin

While this is a preliminary meeting to learn more about what the project is and if we’d be a good fit together, there still is plenty of information you as a client can provide to help give us a clear idea of what you’re looking for, your current home and your dream plans.

In fact, the more information you can lay out on the table, the better as it makes it easier for us to share expert advice and guidance on what you’re looking for and provide an accurate estimate for how much time and money the project will take.

So just what type of information should you have prepared for the consultation or an early meeting?

    Drawings, Information and Pictures

Any drawings, plans, details on site, past construction or remodeling would be incredibly helpful for us to get a better sense of what we’ll be starting out with, analyze and roughly note all the areas where we need to bring out a solution for.

    Design Requirements

To create a space that best serve the users, we would need to know the users’ lifestyle, how the users would use the space, what would the users’ mainly need and if there are any other specific requests that will make the space more suitable. In other words, an architect/designer needs to get inside your head to in order for us to have that same vision to aim for.

    Budget

Sometimes people fear and have the idea that by revealing a big budget, an architect/designer take the chance will maximize their design and reach as closely as possible to the budget value. But by not revealing the budget in the first place, an architect/designer will not be able to create a limit to their design, which will in the end lead to time wasted when they finally reach a result that ultimately has a lot to be trimmed out of budget.

Opening only the minimum budget, vice versa, limits the opportunity for architect/designer to explore with lots of forms and good quality materials. Hence, be open with your realistic budget and expectations, therefore allowing us to mold our creativity into a good design piece that fits nicely in your budget, we can even help provide advice on how you can save both time and money on the project.

    Trust and Mutualism

Building is a long, challenging process that is always intricate and troublesome, especially because you as the owner are already busy with your life. Hiring a trusted professional can benefit you especially as it helps toward keeping a piece of mind by making sure that the design and building process go smoothly.

It is the responsibility of the architect/designer to work towards the right design and construction of the project. But, do not forget that it is your home after all. As your architect/designer, we would always seek your advice regarding your expectations and budget. They want their clients to be honest about their opinions, flexible and decisive. This approach is also beneficial for your project as your prompt decisions would help us to get things done in your favor.

Even though it is your project, but an architect/interior designer will always put his/her possible efforts and dedication in the project. When you hire an architect/designer, trust them and form a relationship with an open communication, common vision, and mutual respect. A professional will always be there at every stage of the project construction. There could be chances that he is occupied with multiple projects, but a professional and an expert knows his roles and responsibilities well and will make sure to deliver the best.
